Not Losing Weight On The Paleo Diet?

While on the Paleo Diet, you have to adhere to the guidelines as close to what is required as possible. It is a strict diet plan and you do have to cut out synthetic food if you want to see the weight come off. When you take the time to do things right, and make sure you adhere to the diet as close as possible, you should see the weight come off. But, if you are not seeing the weight loss, there are possible reasons for this; making a few minor adjustments can go a long way to your success:

Some things you might think you are doing correctly might not be the right way to go when you want to lose on the Paleo Diet. These are some of the more common reasons you may not be losing weight, even though you think you are adhering to the plan:

  • You think you are eating healthy, but you're not. If you are not reading labels, are not going organic, and do not choose grass fed products, these simple changes can make a big difference the next time you weigh in.
  • Too much stress. This is not only under Paleo, but any diet plan. Cutting back on stress, adding exercise in to the mix, and doing things that alleviate stress, will all help on your journey.
  • Carbs and sugar. You have to cut them to a minimum; reading labels is critical, as you might think something has very few carbs, until you read the label.
  • Adding muscle. Especially if you are working out, muscle is going to start developing. Muscle weighs more than fat, so make sure you do measurements, see how clothes fit, and consider other successes in addition to just the number on the scale.

These are some of the places to start looking when you are not losing; so, fixing these things will definitely help you in seeing the numbers drop at your next weigh in.

There are of course other reasons for not seeing the weight loss you are hoping for. Some of these reasons include:

  • You are not active enough. The more sedentary you are, even if you are following the diet exactly, the less you will see coming off.
  • You are eating too much. Although this diet does not call for calorie counting, if you are consuming too much, you are not going to see the weight come off when you are on any diet.
  • Bad habits. These are hard to break, especially if you have had poor eating habits for a while. Writing them down, and making a constant effort to change them will make for the success you want to see.
  • Clean out the pantry. Out of sight, out of mind. Although you think certain foods are not tempting, if you see them at home everyday, you will sooner or later give in; so, cleaning out the pantry is a great place to start any new diet.
  • You might not be getting enough sleep. If you do not rest, the body is not going to see any weight loss. Making sure you get in 6 to 8 hours is key if you want the weight to come off, on any diet.

There are different reasons each individual will fail, or see lapses while dieting. Making sure you know what the reasons are, and considering all possible reasons for failure, will help you learn what you have to do in order to see the changes, and in order for you to start seeing success at the scale.

These are some of the most common reasons for not losing weight on Paleo. If you are following the diet exactly, and still do not see the changes, there might be certain things you do not realize you are doing incorrectly. Speaking to a doctor, and making sure you do not have certain health conditions (thyroid issues or other), might be one reason you are not losing the weight. So, starting with these small changes, and making positive changes on a daily basis, will result in the weight loss success you are hoping for, and seeing the changes you want to see as you progress along on the Paleo diet plan.
